Let's say you have already used the keyword-searchable free Foundation Center's online search engine to locate the largest foundations in your subject area of interest. Now you want to locate all the private foundations in your geographic area, foundations who may be too small to be listed by the free Foundation Center's online search engine. Well, first you are going to need all the zip codes in your area. If you are in the eight county Florida Atlantic University service area, I can help you out. Here they are: Broward zip codes; Now go to the 990 PF search engine, and enter one zip code at a time, to locate the all the private foundations in that zip code and optionally examine their forms 990 PF. It's tedious, but it works, and unless you are rolling in dough, it beats paying a fortune to a proprietary database service. |
